GE announced it has secured an order from Iberdrola for its 7HA.01 gas turbine technology, marking the first time that technology will be deployed in Mexico.

The order, which will supply the 766-MW Topolobampo III project, includes two 7HA.01 gas turbines, a D650 steam turbine, three generators, two heat recovery steam gnerators and a plant control system outfitted with GE’s Digital Power Plant suite powered by Predix.

“GE and Iberdrola have worked together for many years, and we’re proud to team up once again to bring GE’s record-setting HA technology to Mexico,” said Joe Mastrangelo, president and CEO of GE’s Gas Power Systems. “The heavy demand for electricity here continues to grow at a rapid pace, and with our HA and extended scope products and advanced digital capabilities we will transform the way future demands are met by delivering more reliable, efficient and flexible power to the people of Mexico than ever before.”

GE noted Mexico’s energy demand has grown by 25 percent since 2000, and is expected to grow by 50 percent over the next 25 years.
