Calpine
DOE tabs $890 million for three carbon capture projects at U.S. power plants
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced up to $890 million for three large-scale carbon capture demonstration projects in the power sector.
Carbon capture pilot launched at natural gas plant in California
The pilot project at Calpine’s Los Medanos Energy Center is expected to capture up to 95% of carbon emissions, although the captured carbon will be released back into the atmosphere rather than stored.
Calpine proceeds with plan to build more natural gas plants in Texas
The company said a new 425 MW plant would be operational before the summer of 2026.
Calpine to add peaking capacity near existing combined-cycle plant
Calpine said this effort was prompted by Texas regulators’ recent adoption of a policy designed to incentivize new generation.
